Guthrie Govan Chromatic Lick in C – Lick of the Day

Guthrie Govan Chromatic Lick in C – Lick of the Day

In this lick, I cover an awesome chromatic descending lick in the key of C. The lick is inspired by some licks that I have heard from Guthrie Govan.

The skeleton of the lick is the c minor pentatonic scale. But, instead of just descending down it, we throw in a lot of chromatic notes. This makes for some challenging left-hand fretting. Chromatic licks, especially when you are doing pull offs or hammers with all four fingers can be challenging! This lick makes a good exercise if you don’t have that down yet.

This lick has a blues feel, so even though it could be classified as shred, you should be able to put this into some blues context and still sound good.

Enjoy!
